Introduction
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
“All praise is due to Allah who whenever a period of time passed without sending Messengers, a remnant of people of knowledge would invite the misguided to guidance, endure their harm, revive the dead hearts by Allah’s book, and bring sight to the blind by Allah’s light.
Verily, how many victim of Satan have they revived back [to the truth], how many misguided and lost individuals did they guide? What a beautiful effect they have on people! And what a bad effect people have on them.”1
Insha’Allah, posts in this blog will revolve around one of the following categories:
- The Islamic Creed: The major focus of the blog. Posts will discuss topics where the English content available may be lacking, inauthentic or hard to find. This includes everything from Tawheed and Shirk, to Names and Attributes, Firaq and the more thorny issues in our Creed.
- Misconceptions: During da’wah to Muslims and non-Muslims alike, we face many misconceptions. Some are borderline silly and unworthy of being broken down, while others deserve proper analysis to be understood and refuted if needed. Misconceptions will be dissected, analyzed and responded to academically.
- Book reviews: As an avid book lover, collector and a student of knowledge, many books will be discussed insha’Allah, possibly with studying notes.
- Notable individuals: Many individuals contributed to our religion, both positively and negatively. Knowing these characters, their teachings, their writings and such is standard for a student of knowledge.
- Aqeeda dictionary: AR-EN dictionary with relevant definitions brought up in the posts.
- Quizes on classical texts: Including basic mutoon about Creed, prayer and such.
As for the blog name, Bolts of Truth is inspired by the title of the classical work As-Sawaa’iq Al-Mursala (The Thunderbolts Sent Out) by Ibn Al-Qayyim, a multi-volume refutation of the Jahmiyya and Mu’attila (those who negate Allah’s attributes).
I ask Allah to accept this humble attempt at sharing knowledge and to benefit the reader and myself.
